It's motorsport, isn't it?

Return of the Mike

He’s back. You know who is back.

Who’d have bet it almost 3 years ago, when he went out fighting in Interlagos? A lot of people said “ah, well he’ll be back, he’s too competitive”, but I don’t think anyone really believed it. There was a glimmer of hope when he started testing again. But the longer the wait, the less likely it became. He has seemed happy with his retirement, although he has been back on the bike and raced in the Race of Champions, but he wasn’t going to come back.

Well, kids, he’s back. Michael Schumacher, that German feller, the cheater, the genius, the living legend, Der Kaiser, the man with more race wins, titles, poles, fastest laps, fans and enemies than any other driver in the history of F1, will be an F1 driver again at Valencia on 21st August 2009. 2 days later, exactly 18 years (more than any other driver) after his first session as an F1 driver, he will make his 249th career F1 start. And I’m sure he’ll be right at the sharp end. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

In the words of Murray Walker, the 2009 European Grand Prix has gone MEGA!
