A quiet day
Mondays are often quiet days for news and today is no exception.
Rounding out the weekend’s action, 2 reigning champions took the wins on the other side of the Atlantic. Scott Dixon took the win at the Milwaukee Mile in the IRL IndyCar Series, which also gave him the championship lead over Ryan Briscoe, whilst Jimmie Johnson also took his 2nd win of the season with a NASCAR Sprint Cup win at Dover over Tony Stewart, but the 2 times champion has taken the lead in the standings from Jeff Gordon despite not winning this season so far – surely that first success for his own team in a championship event isn’t far away.
So, with not much else to talk about, I’ll leave you (well, I hope someone’s reading) with a bit of trivia – Brawn’s victory in Australia ended the stranglehold of the big 4 – that is Williams, McLaren, Ferrari and Benetton/Renault – on the race. They are the first team from outside of this 4 to win in Oz. Just goes to show how much the formbooks have been turned around and shows what a good car they have – Albert Park in particular has been a good indicator of the overall speed of a car, despite the fact that it’s a unique circuit.
