Superfund to return to F1…as a team

leave a comment »

Autosport are reporting that Austrian investment company Superfund have entered the 2010 F1 WC. They have a Cosworth deal and the operation is to be fronted by former Benetton, McLaren and Williams ace Alex Wurz, who will be team principal. It seems as if they’ll initially be working with another constructor, specified to be based in Britain in the article (well, one of Alex’s current employers is based in Britain – in a place called Brackley…), although have the finances to go it alone.

It’s another twist to the entry saga. It was a hard enough decision to choose between Lola, Prodrive, Campos/Dallara and Team USF1. Superfund have been around for a while and even tried to form their own series a few years back that failed to get off the ground. Is this going to follow it? Or is F1 going to get its 2nd Austrian team?
